I’d always heard the truism as “….devil’s workshop” not playground.

Idle hands is the devil’s playground? That probably explains why Jesus was born to Joseph a carpenter by trade. As you may have heard, carpenters are also known as a hand-dee man. Ideally hand-dee.

When my kids were young and would visit me in the summer time, I trained them to never say the words “I’m bored.” My immediate response was “Really? Come with me because the lawn needs mowing, the driveway has to be sealed, the deck needs to be cleaned. . . . .”
