We taught our many cats, over the many years, that outright begging is verboten. Howsomever, waiting patiently to see if we were going to give them something, was allowed. And, seeing as such behaviour was rewarded with a morsel of food, it suuure didn’t take long for them to learn patience was a (rewarded) virtue!!! Tho, I have to say, a few of them had a very funny idea of Patiently Waiting!

Just sitting and staring can be very effective. And the odd bit of drool. And a quiet whimper.

We have 4 cats, 3 of them are beggars
There are rules, the kitten is still learning them
The older 2 think if the kitten can break the rules then they can too
I’m working on it as I’m the one most likely to give them something

I visited a house with two dogs who would stand right at the threshold of the room and stare silently as I ate. Half cute, half creepy.

They are always hungry and want to eat just like their wild cousins in the forest.
