I had to come to the place of forgiving my father for his abuse of me when I was young, even in the face of him continuing to deny it. I became free. Many years later, in his late 90’s, he finally acknowledged what I had accused him of. I said to him, “don’t you feel better now?”
Yeah, I totally agree. Worked for a beeotch Navy chaplain onboard a ship. NO ONE liked her. She claimed she was Southern Baptist, but was more like she worked for the devil! Whew. Shipmates would call for an appointment but didn’t want the female chaplain! Worst thing was….we had the same damn last name. Had to assure whoever called they understood I was NOT the female chaplain but was the enlisted in charge of the office. Took many years for me to forget her meanness and awful people manners. Evil. Now that I think back, I can really relate to today’s AA toon. As I am not one to forgive easily, I can forget those hard times and remember the better times onboard.
Matthew 6:14-15- forgive men of their trespasses and your heavenly Father will forgive your trespasses. Colossians 3:13- freely forgive one another and God will freely forgive you.

I’d rather stay grumpy, but you make a good point.

True. Obsessing over an apology you didn’t get breeds resentment. Resentment is like taking poison and expecting the other person to die.

depending on the nature of the offense my reaction is how far I remove the person from my life.

And life is better for all if you don’t do anything you need to apologize for.

Nah, it’s way easier to accept that you didn’t get the apology and cut the person out of your life entirely!
