Well, baseball players are locked out so the wait might be longer.

Thereā€™s probably no baseball this season as a bunch of greedy owners and players are arguing.

I donā€™t follow sports at all. I couldnā€™t even tell you who was playing in the supper bowl this year. I quit watching sports about 35 years ago when baseball went on strike. I might tune in for a baseball game if Montreal was in the playoffs, just like i might watch a Stanley Cup game if the Nordique were playing, but otherwise i couldnā€™t care less about sports.

After a life long love of professional baseball, I gave it up a few years ago, tired of all the incessant problems caused by players/owners squabbling over the $.

Should have become a baseball player ā€“ with these salaries, you canā€™t go wrong:

Minimum salary: MLBā€™s proposal gives the MLBPA the alternative to choose between two systems. In the first, players would receive a single minimum salary of $630,000 in 2022, which would mark an increase more than twice as large as the $27,500 bump the players received in the first year of the last CBA. Under this system, the minimum salary would not be capped ā€” meaning teams could give discretionary raises ā€” while the $59,500 increase from 2021 to 2022 would nearly match the increase ($63,000) over the five years of the entire prior CBA.

The leagueā€™s other proposal features a tiered salary scale which would pay $615,000 for 0+ Major League service players, $650,000 for 1+ MLS players, and $725,000 for 2+ MLS players ā€“ the latter of which is an increase of $15,000 from the prior proposal. Compared to the current minimum salary of $570,500, players would receive a 16% raise ($278,500) over their first three years of service under this plan ā€“ and thatā€™s not factoring in a pre-arbitration bonus pool.

Be nice if the baseball labor dispute could be resolved, more for the people who work in the stadiums and the surrounding areas. I find it interesting between this strip and todayā€™s ā€˜FoxTrotā€™ that most comments on sports oriented strips are often critical rather than supportive; ā€˜Win, Lose, or Drewā€™ is the same way. I shouldnā€™t be surprised as most of the comments on the editorial cartoons seem to come from people who donā€™t agree with the cartoonistā€™s own outlook; similar situation I see. Some days, especially during this pandemic, Iā€™ve wondered if as a society we deserve things like sports. Whatever you do today, have a good Sunday.

I did not get to watch the Warriors beat the Lakers last night so Iā€™ll be watching the recording of that game instead. I know how it ends, I just want to see how they get there.

Personally, during the Super Bowl, Iā€™ll be rooting for the commercials.

As for baseball and the lockout, Iā€™m counting down until players are on the field again. Hopefully soon.
