If the computer had you figured out then you wouldn’t have to plug in a destination, of course. And that’s a navigation system – the GPS is just the satellites and knows nothing about destinations.
You do know the computer is going to remember every last detail of that? And since they’re using more and more AI, they’ll soon figure out you’ve been pranking them Then you’re going to trust them and take a nap while driving a busy interstate?
I had to find a detour the other day because of an overturned semi closing the freeway. The GPS kept trying to make me take the closed on ramp AND then kept on trying to make me circle back to the same on ramp. It kept my mind off my other issues at the moment though.
Husband does this a little differently. He puts in a destination and argues with the GPS because he knows the best way to get there. I dislike listening to all the “make a U turn” and “re-routing” messages from the GPS.
In my younger days, shortly after the Earth cooled and GPS was still new, I used to monkey around with the systems in rental cars to see if I could get them to get annoyed or give up. I was always disappointed that I couldn’t.

Sometimes I tell a pointless story just so people realize I’m not completely narrative-driven. :)

It’s for exactly the same reason that I don’t listen to my wife’s suggestions that we stop and ask directions.

i always smile when my wife carefully punches in the coordinates and then pretty much ignores the directions, telling me, this way is much faster…

She (in the passenger set) does not look happy with the situation.
