Sounds like the GEICO commercial rhetorical question: can switching to GEICO really save you 15% or more on car insurance? Do people use smartphones to do dumb things?
@Number Three Today’s strip IS funny , our HeRO Mr Andrew Capp , does not think that smart phones are that smart if Flo can trace him :o) my avatar again is a picture of my birth sign Leo roaring because he’s in a good mood like I am , how was your day? our Thursday should be quite busy as usual , but we both are in a good mood , there is bulk shopping to be done but no more errands to run , then we will stay in the house because it’s bitterly cold outside keep hydrated and wait till this evening when the greengrocer van comes up our streets , keep safe and thanks for caring young Lady.
Not only can she contact him she can track him wherever he goes with just an app, of course the authority’s can as well, but this is less problematic than a spouse.
For once I agree with Andy. My wife goes nuts on me if I don’t immediately answer her text. I try to explain over and over that if I’m outside working, my phone’s in the house. I own the phone – it doesn’t own me.
You can’t be tracked if you don’t take the phone with you! My wife bought me one of the newest models – with all the bells & whistles – but I rarely use it and never take it with me. My excuse – fairly valid – is that since the national pastime of thieves in Ecuador is stealing cellphones, I don’t want to encourage them or become a statistic.
I was on-call and carried a pager for years. I enjoy being able to call others, use GPS, etc, but if there is one feature of smart phones I don’t like, it’s that people can call me.
Smartphones are fantastic in so many ways. But I think it’s wrong when people use their phones to track their husband/wife’s whereabouts etc. It just shows a complete lack of trust. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if our friend Number Six’s partner does that to him or is considering it. From what Six has mentioned before she’s rather controlling and spies on his phone. I know because Six told me himself. I’m not sure if she still does but people like her don’t change. She didn’t like the fact that me and Six were friends (I often wonder if she felt threatened by me) and it was all completely innocent.
For dinner tonight, I’m trying a Chinese chicken curry from a supermarket. Never had it before and can’t wait. I’m also having fries with that.
Stay safe, stay well, stay warm and stay happy, pal.
Ah, but the smart husband can outsmart the smart wife by pretending the call was dropped, the battery died, the text never came through, he had the phone on silent, etc., etc.

I know a bloke who said he didn’t want one because he refused to have a phone that was smarter than he was. And he actually had a point. Cheers.

And I seriously feel sorry for the young folk; I remember taking off in the morning on my bike and not returning until evening… We called it freedom.

Boss’s secretary called me with a question; asked where I was since there were echos. I just said “in a small room”, didn’t tell her toilet stall.

Andy would only need a smart phone in an emergency and since Andy’s emergencies always involve water, a phone probably wouldn’t be much help.

Smartphones are often used by stupid people. (Note: not everyone who has a smartphone is an idiot.)
