I’ve been wearing electric gloves in our southern New England winter, which is much milder than the Arctic. They don’t do much for me; my fingers still freeze. Never really had problems with cold feet, though.
I got these insulated insoles for my boots that work really well. As for electric warmth, a friend got an electric hoodie for Christmas. You charge it up and it provides heat!! No idea how long it lasts.
If this was ever likely to happen there would be no electrically heated socks. They are low voltage, low current devices designed to add just a little heat that your shoes help retain. They put out about as much heat as those chemical hand warmers. However, if they were prone to faults, this guy would be Mr. Murphy.

It could’ve been worse. He could’ve been wearing electric underwear.

Looks like he lost a couple of toes, too.

Love the exploded toes.

If his socks didn’t short and stop his bragging, the guys would have obliged more convincingly only seconds later. Lucky for Monty.

This is where the IBEW sues the AMA for violations in practice.

The scariest thing here is, the near mitosis of Monty in panel 3.

That seems like a serious design flaw.

How many double A batteries does it take to produce the aroma of foot sweat? Bath & Body works may want to add that aroma to their candle inventory.

The socks short-circuiting actually saved him from something worse. One of the other guys was about say: “How you like to not see me for awhile?”

They did a great job on the toe wrapping. Monty’s hammertoes might clear up with time!

Heh, pity he wasn’t wearing electric boots. I heard about these in an magazine.

Hoist on your own petard, Monty! Or on your own stinky electro-socks!
Is that how the psycho docs administer electro-sock therapy?
