I always hated making Christmas lists. It was so hard. So my Mom made mine for me. I always was just happy to get some gifts. The only thing I ever truly wanted and asked for was a Barbie—-which I didn’t get until I was 12. By that time I was too old to enjoy playing with her.
I only ever remember being disappointed once on Christmas as a kid. My grandparents kept talking about the “big presents” that my brother and I were getting, and I was super excited… until they handed us our new sleeping bags. Not being an ungrateful child, I wore that sleeping bag out over the next couple of years.
My cousins made it through before the storm hit. The dog and cats that had not met them before like them. Except for one cat, but she takes a while to warm up to people. Good friends, good food, good times, And no one has to get back to work until next Wednesday. Gonna be a great 2nd half to this break.

Well, we know Bernice suffers from family issues. So maybe her final comment in meaningful, indeed.

She wanted a friend that she could actually respect.

I often didn’t get what I wanted but I liked what I got. So it worked out.

Luann shouldn’t exactly be “thankful” for that “friend.”

You could go out and buy what you wanted yourself, but that would require, you know, money.
