I thought the whole point of a destination wedding was to keep your poorer relatives from coming. That has certainly kept me from attending a lot of them.
I think it’s the height of being self centred to expect your wedding guests to meet all the usual costs (gifts, sometimes new clothes and hairdos, etc) and then expect them to fork out for interstate/international travel and accommodation on top.

I hate destination weddings. They force everyone else to blow tons of money. Just have the wedding and go in a destination honeymoon.
