I’m 62 and I can remember stuff like that easily. How can one forget learning to ski? Or first time you rode a bike or flew in an airplane? Some things are unforgettable. I remember the first time I shot a BB gun at 6, with my father. Many other key moments too.
Did Marcy suffer some form of childhood trauma that made her want to forget?
… I wonder if it is intentional on Robb’s part to introduce this arc during Black History Month. Either way: It is wonderful to see these positive and happy reflections of a close and loving family. A reminder to ALL of us that those memories are made, in every moment of every day.
I remember getting separated from my family at a Christmas tree farm when I was 3 or 4. I was never so glad to see my oldest brother, who found me. Snow levels being relative to my stature at that time, knee high. Rows of towering pine trees and snow and LOTS of quiet. Scary for a young one.
Mom can’t carry a tune in a bucket. She says that from the time I could talk when she would start to sing I would place my hand on her mouth and say “Momma, Please don’t!”

Sounds like her mom didn’t talk about her dad for all of this time. Or bring the album out.

Looks like Joe has developed “foot-in-mouth” disease over the last couple of days…

Sounds like Marcy didn’t see her father much when she was small.

“To ‘jump-start’ my memories”. I see what you did there, Robb. Nice. :)

She said “jump-start!” She worked the title of the strip into her dialogue! Let’s see “Dog Eat Doug” do THAT!

A nice demonstration of what a kid misses without a dad, whatever the reason.

Anybody can sing. Contemplate IT’S A HEARTACHE, NOTHIN’BUT A HEARTACHE and see if you don’t agree.
Some singing is more melodic than others.

I foresee a break in this marriage if Joe doesn’t smarten up.

Speaking of the first panel, is/was there ever an explanation for the strip’s title?
