On January 3, Spotify’s stock was trading at $250 a share.
One month later, on February 4, it had plummeted to $173 — a 26.1% drop.
Apparently, serving as a host for anti-science PRO-DEATH Covid misinformation and hosting outright white supremacist racists is not such a great business model after all. And if anyone doubts that Joe Rogan is both of those, they need to listen to the entire collage of his N-word rants plus his “joke” equating African Americans with apes. And for those who buy his chickenpoop “explanation” about the “Planet of the Apes” “joke,” they need to watch the full context of it. The best presentation have seen is on Trevor Noah’s Daily Show of February 7, where he played the entire content uncensored, including the parts of the “joke” that could not be so easily whitewashed by Rogan’s pathetic attempt to rationalize and minimize.
Still, I guess in the age of Trump, there is an audience for anti-science white supremacist BS, but even Trump was critical of Rogan. Oh, not for the content, but for apologizing.
I have the Spotify app on my phone (I have the ad supported free version), but I am seriously considering deleting it and getting Pandora instead. I don’t know if Pandora has podcasts (although I listen to music more than podcasts), but I guess I’ll learn soon enough. As an American, Rogan can say what he wants. But he does not have the right to deliberately spread disinformation. As the late Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan said, “You are entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts”.

I may not do Spotify myself, but that is an interesting logo though.

Spotify paid 100 million to host Joes show at this point he could promote NAMBLA and they still would not remove him from their platform.

It’s not what he says that bothers me, it’s the feeble minded people that will fight to the death over his lies…
