@Linguist Today’s strip is slightly funny , in the top frame Flo’ is making fun of our HERO Mr Andrew Capp’s habits and in the second Andy’s dislikes go away when there is free beer involved :o) my avatar again is a picture of Rowan Atkinson as Mr Bean grinning because he’s in a good mood like I am , come passerai la vostra Domeicha mio sincero men vecchio amicho? our Sunday should be slightly busy we both are in a good mood , no early morning drive , shopping to do or errands to run just dtay inside the house and keep hydrated and wait till 9.3o when we will watch our Archbishop celebrate the Holy mass on television , keep safe and a bientot pal
I mentioned elsewhere that should Cincinnati accomplish the near-impossible and beat Los Angeles tonight, then tomorrow’s LA sports news headlines will bemoan The Silence of the Rams!
UK time, it’ll be on at 11:30pm (23:30). Andy’ll probably be walking home singing whatever Mary J. Blige performs… at least until he gets to the canal.
Americans have good food, but lousy beer. The British have good beer, but lousy food. (Or so I’ve heard. Sorry if I’ve offended anyone with my generalizations.) By the way, most people just watch the Superbowl for the commercials
I find it amusing that a number of English folk here are criticizing American football for the lack of action. What? Y’all have never heard of Cricket?
(Mind you, I’m a cricketer, myself, even if I am American.)
There’s a good bit on an old Vicar of Dibley show about American football/footballers—starts with “Knock, knock - Who’s there? - O.J. - O.J. who? - Fine, you can be on the jury” and devolves because of course Alice doesn’t get it.

never thought of the Super Bowl to be big in the UK amongst the native British citizens

Andy’s confused in today’s strip. He should be at Jack’s around 2 am on Monday to catch the game.

Rugby players are tough, they don’t wear all that padding.

Why would you want to drink that swill, Andy? Oh, swill or not you’ll quaff anything free as long as it contains alcohol.

Well Andy will watch the kickoff, which will sail through the end zone, down his beer, and it’s goodnight Jack I am out of here.

The rest of the strip is routine, business as usual for Andy, but Flo’s sarcasm in panel one is priceless — it could stand perfectly on its own.

Once I explained to my English friends to think of American Football as a sort of chess match they enjoyed it.

I didn’t think Europeans liked American beer. But then again my two favorite kinds of beer are cold and free.
