I’ve never had that boss. They’ve always been either willing to listen or unhappy unless you see things their way, THEIR way. Fortunately, mostly mediocrity (or worse) of that level tends to solve itself.
I learned a long time ago that there are many ways to solve a problem. The path that will succeed best, is the one with the most support; not necessarily the best idea. I will promote my own ideas up to a point, then help the team in whatever direction is chosen. If the chosen path can’t work, I will try to morph it into something that can.
