Today’s Speed Bump lesson: “It’s My way or the Highway”

I’ve never had that boss. They’ve always been either willing to listen or unhappy unless you see things their way, THEIR way. Fortunately, mostly mediocrity (or worse) of that level tends to solve itself.

Eh, boss, whatever you say. Me see your way as long as you gimme good pay.

Never had a problem with being told how to do it. I was just told to ‘Getter’ Done’.

Had an economics professor in college who was just like this.

Well, ok, but I’ll need to move my chair to the other side of this desk.

I learned a long time ago that there are many ways to solve a problem. The path that will succeed best, is the one with the most support; not necessarily the best idea. I will promote my own ideas up to a point, then help the team in whatever direction is chosen. If the chosen path can’t work, I will try to morph it into something that can.

My way or no way…hit the highway…

With those eyes on the side of his head, how can he see anything?

So -I guess “wanting to stay employed” is not unique…

Lick your boots, sir?

Every boss, everywhere.

We’ll have none of that initiative stuff around here, we’d rather stagnate.
