    By this point, the art had become very two dimensional, and set pieces like the pitcher’s mound appeared flat- or no more than a ridge. Based on the holes, it doesn’t seem to be a fully circular mound. Or else the kids cut ridges through it diameter-wise.

    On a historical basis,this may be the last appearance of “5”,who had faded out of the strip long ago.

    And on the first pitch of the game,Charlie Brown topples into the deep crevice,never to be seen again.

    Not a good start to the season Chuck, but the team did find a better use for your pitchers mound. Also, a lower mound may make you a more difficult target for hitters.
