If you can’t take a little abuse, maybe you ought to just stay here and crawl under your bed. It’s not safe out there. Politics can wondrous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross. But it’s not for the timid.

Politicians often self appoint themselves to run for office. This bunch rarely self examine their own qualifications for the job. It doesn’t help that our own Constitution doesn’t enumerate any other qualifications at all for our highest offices than the candidate’s age.

I wonder, if everyone slammed the door in their faces, who signed the petition to get her on the ballot in the first place as Standsfernuttin only mentioned that in passing

The Founding Fathers wanted people of all types to be representing the people of all types who compose the country. So, no “literacy test” for public office. I suspect they did expect that office seekers would actually want to Serve the Country rather than line their own pockets, but being men wise to reality, knew that knaves and saints both would be elected.

    “How bad was it?”

“Gibberingly traumatic levels of unspecified badness!”

“So… how bad was that? This is how you react to a change in the dew point.”

Canvassing is really difficult. Now that virtually everything’s made of plastic, a real canvas is almost impossible.
