When I was an undergrad, there were trees just outside my dorm window, and in the spring the birds would start with a terrible racket every morning at 4:30 a.m. I was not a fan of my noisy neighbors.
Birds singing is becoming fewer and fewer as more bird species either move elsewhere or die off, all because of climate change. So, when you do hear a bird’s concert, enjoy the rareness of the moment.
No bluebirds in my Mexico City neighborhood, but since I live on the top floor of my building, I often hear the sparrows who hang out on the “azotea” tweeting in the morning and late afternoon.
Oh, we love this strip, today’s shows just how kind and tender it is. Thank you again, Chip, for Overboard, and the gang. Bluebirds just came back to our son’s yard and feeders…they are lovely.

So far this spring, I’ve mainly heard cardinals and flickers. Maybe not so melodic, but joyful all the same.

I arose unusually early this morning, in time for the concert AND the light show (beautiful sunrise.)
