You did the problem correctly, Gil. Why they need further explanation is beyond me. They can see how you arrived at that answer.

I took 216 dollar bills, made stacks of $8, and counted them. Dollars / dollars/hour = hours.

I found it sitting under a couch pillow. The new new math is getting stranger than the old new math.

Q: “Explain how you found your answer.”

A. “Long division, duh” (maybe don’t include the “duh”)

I have 2 hundreds, 1 ten and 6 ones, to break that down further the 2 hundreds break down to 21 tens and 6 ones. It goes on from there. I just tell the 7yo, “ look. Here is how to do it, plain, simple and right.

There are actually workbooks that ask for an essay answer to this. I could never prove my answers in geometry- even though they were right – so I would be dead doing this !
