My mother witnessed a neighbor mother grab and hug/hold her son who had run into the road and barely escaped being hit. Then she spanked him. Long long ago in a small town far far away when things were not like they are now.

Fairly typical reaction for someone who truly loves her husband. Very proud of his actions but scared to death that she came that close to losing him.

Soon after I adopted my first cats, one of them ran into the garage while the door was closing and I saved him from getting crushed. I hugged him and wanted to strangle him at the same time. Not quite the same thing but I get where she’s coming from.

Her love for you and relief you are okay does that. Heard it a lot for my wife when she heard what transpired on the fire scene.

When you’re a kid near Pittsburgh, the phrase was (and likely still is), Kennywood’s open…

The reason you are getting mixed signals Darryl is because Wanda is sending mixed signals.

This is a common reaction when a loved one escapes danger. First, relief he’s not hurt, then anger that he put himself in danger. Why don’t some of these readers understand that?

She is considering a life without him… I had a friend. She was very happily young married. They had a toddler & a second baby on the way. Her husband died in a hunting accident. When she learned the news the feeling of grief followed by the intense feeling of being alone….it was beyond intense. Pleased to say she got up & moved on…. 5 years later, much to her surprise, she happily remarried…..

I feel like everyone is missing a point here. Darryl risked his life and future with his wife and kids running (reaching) into a burning house to save a cat. The values are not equal here. I love cats. Have more than a few, but wouldn’t expect anyone to risk their life to save one of them. If my husband died saving a pet, I would be left alone with children to raise. My kids would lose a father. If there is a fire get everyone and every pet that you can out. Do not go back inside. Let the firefighters handle it.

“I love you. I love your kindness. I hate you risked your life because it would bring much hardship and sorrow to me and our entire family. I love you. I love your kindness. I you and so I hate you risked your life because it would bring much hardship and sorrow to me and our entire family and I would not want you ever to be hurt. I love you.

“Did I mention I love you?”

Wren doesn’t know what the heck is going on.

And then the cat follows Darryl home.

She’s actually right to be mad at him:It was just a cat.He is a father of three. He is not experienced against fire and smoked hazards.

That would be about my reaction too – “Honey, I’m so glad I married a brave man, but if you put yourself in danger again I’ll never forgive you!”
