Oh come on: real Pluggers have generators made from car alternators and lawnmower engines. Popular Science mag in the ’70s shows how; updated switching is available at Ace Hardware.
I have a bed frame that will allow head and foot raising so I can read in bed. I try to be sure I lower it down as soon as I’m done in case there’s a power failure. I’m not sure I would sleep well all night in the raised position.
This cracked me up. Happened to me last year during the winter blackouts in Texas. Had to tilt and roll out of the chair because I didn’t want to damage it.
Mine is not electric – did not even know they make electric ones. I do have a problem with mine – my first one had a handle to recline it, but this one does not and since when I sit in a chair it is rare that my feet touch the floor, I have to recline it standing next to it and then carefully climb into it without bringing it back to sitting upright!

Is that like being trapped on the escalator when the power goes out?

Plugger is in big trouble when he is so lazy that he buys an electric recliner.

My recliner has a broken handle, so I have to leave it up all the time. No trouble getting in and out.

Some Pluggers can’t afford a powered recliner and the manual one never fails. If the handle were to break I make a new handle for it.

High-end recliners/lift chairs have a small battery for such situations. It’s slow but it doesn’t leave you trapped in the chair.

I get all comfy in mine just about the time the dogs want to go out, or come in.

My bride bought one used and I’ve had to get her out of it twice during power failures. I can’t help but laugh.

Been there, done that! It’s worse than picking yourself off the floor.
