I discovered the term from the biological concept of atavism, which is when an animal is born with a mutant trait that its ancestors lost. Stuff like birds with teeth, dolphins with hindlimbs, and humans with tails.

And of course Phoebe was born in 2012, being that she is 9 yrs.

Ok, floating timeline, but technically she was born in 2012 in a meta sense. Or when Dana came up with the idea for her.

Modern unicorns look at themselves too, Marigold. Just recall the time when you and Phoebe first met one another.

Primitive instincts never left us. We just try to conceal or ignore them.

They’re called instincts. We barely use them now, but they’re still there.

I imagine ponds were popular with ancient Unicorns as they could gaze at themselves in their reflection!

As the ancient philosopher, Ug, once said: “Ooh-ooh-OOOH!” I’d translate, but this comic strip is mainly for kids.

So that would explain my fascination for playing with fire. :o)

I tried that when I was in Boy Scouts. Didn’t work; I was STILL in Boy Scouts.

i actually can’t stand staring at a fire… especially when the smoke gets in my eyes… bleh…

people always think i’m being weird or antisocial when i sit several feet back from the group at a campfire… but i really just don’t like fire. :P

Another word added to the vocabulary thanks to reading comics.
