Depending on when in the 80s, that $1.30 could be the equivalent to as much as $4.48. Inflation was high during that period.
I sense a Back to the Future like moment in this arc with a younger Dutch(who Rip won’t be able to recognize).
One of the only things I miss about that decade is Phil Donahue’s talk show!
He’ll need some quarters for the payphones if he wants to make any calls.
Reagan was POTUS!
Nice Terminator reference in the first panel.
The heady allure of wraparound nostalgia. And then come the bad sitcoms on TV.
Rip’s in pancake heaven!!!
I was active duty through the 80’s. I pretty much missed the whole thing.
Ahhh…. can you tell me where I can get one of them thar’ time machines?
Ka-Ho-Jo’s. Breakfast is served. :)
Has Dr. Connor found his 80’s self, or, possibly has Sarah Connors found him, and, is employing him to prevent Skynet?
With me, it wasn’t the pancakes. It was the fried clams.
KA-HOWARD JOHNSON’S!
They had some great movies in the 80s. Raiders of the Lost Ark, the Blues Brothers, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, etc. (Okay, there were some crummy movies too, but that’s true of every decade.) Plus, there was no covid back then.
The 1980s: New Wave, Valley Girls, Breakdancing, Heavy Metal, The Reagan Presidency, The Iron Lady Thatcher, The Cold War, It was a Time. TOTALLY!
Perhaps while Rip is on a Time Travel mission, Rip Junior and Sopapilla will return and help Breezy, Fireball and company defeat the current bad guys.
Rip didn’t have to go back in time naked; he just chose to do it to make that b-tchi’ Terminator reference.
