I don’t see how anyone could be bored with such a pretty bird. I love seeing Steller’s jays every day and they are much more somber-looking. (I live in the Pacific Northwest and have never seen a cardinal.)

We once had some many cardinals in our yard that I was afraid they would get together and elect a new pope.

I grew up in PA and always loved seeing and hearing Cardinals. I loved how they would usually show up at the feeder as a mated pair.

They look lovely. Some day I’ll see one! And a firefly.

I love cardinal’s songs. Very pretty bird.

Cardinals are my favorite, I never tire of watching them and hearing their song.

Those silly people in the second and third panels! There is nothing boring about cardinals. They are gorgeous and they have a lovely song.

I would love to see a Cardinal and here their song. But I love most all birds.

In parts of the not-too-South Cardinals are not only common but abundant. I remember driving on a (very) country road in Virginia about 70 years ago when a flock of about twenty cardinals streaked across the road in front of my car. Fortunately I wasn’t going at all fast. It was an amazing sight. Stunning. And Cardinal habits are sort of suicidal—if you were a brilliantly red medium-sized bird, would you think it was wise to perch in a conspicuously exposed place (as shown in Ms Mosco’s accurate drawings) and shriek “I’M A CARDINAL, I’M A CARDINAL” over and over?

Here’s something to think about: Cardinal comes from Latin cardō “hinge”. Not obvious!

Cardinals are common where I live, but I still love to see them. They were my mom’s favorite bird and seeing one always reminds me of her.

I would be willing to part with a few extra starlings if anyone wants some….Not all, just a few.

It’s like Oregon is some sort of alternate, mirror universe. Creepy.

Just today I was reminding myself to enjoy and admire the overwhelmingly prolific dandelion. If a seed catalog offered a cheerful flower that’s easy to grow and produces many intensely brilliant splashes of sunshine, wouldn’t we buy it? Same with familiar birds.

If a person can choose a different residence simply to win an elected office then a bird can do the same merely to be noticed and adored for the wonder he/she is.

In Northeast Ohio it seems were are getting more Pileated Woodpeckers. I love their call.

A redundant comment, but this comic is my experience too! Living in Portland OR, every time I go back to Philly to visit family I’m always thrilled to see my first Cardinal! It never gets old.
