One year when I was a kid my parents bought 100 one day old male chickens (roosters). As they got older they started to learn to crow. They really do have to learn how to crow. It really is one of the funniest thing to hear and not much different than Whiteheads depiction.
In one of the sublime old “King Aroo” strips, the rooster character comes down with laryngitis, which is serious because then the sun doesn’t come up in the morning. (You didn’t know that, I bet.) A locum-tenens is quickly found, but he turns out to be a chick, whose crowing is rendered as “Peep-a-deedle-dee”. It barely gets the sun over the horizon.

To borrow a line…
If the people don’t find you funny, they should at least find you tasty.

My buddy bought a house in the country for some peace and quiet. Turns out his new neighbors have roosters. And I thought barking dogs were bad, lol.

Young roosters really are funny when they are starting to learn how to crow.
