A friend of ours has a big dog, who managed to find and eat most of a bag of milk chocolate kisses, foil and all. The vet said there isn’t all that much chocolate in those candies and given the size of the dog, it shouldn’t be a problem. “Keep an eye on him, but you shouldn’t need to come in.” Friend said the dog was fine, and cleaning the yard was much easier. He’d go out with a flashlight in the evening and look for the sparkles.
Years ago, my 75lb Shep/Lab mix, managed to find a box of fudge dipped cookies and ate at least 6 of them. Her size saved her as she never got sick, at all! How she got those cookies, from the top of a high cabinet, I will never know!
I knew someone that had a bird dog that would have seizures sometimes while hunting. The vet told him to carry a Hershey’s chocolate bar and feed it to the dog when it happened. The dog would perk up and be all right.

One of our dogs ate a half box of Sees. I said she had to go to the vet right now! She looked at me and then promptly vomited it all up. She was fine.

The higher the cocoa content the more the danger. A little milk chocolate while not recommended won’t hurt a dog if they eat some of it.

Chocolate is bad, higher concentrations in smaller dogs could be fatal. Grapes, raisins, and onions are deadly.
