This breaks my heart… and I sympathize with it at the same time. My seven year old daughter babbles like this at me incessantly, and after the first 30 seconds or so I tune her out, but feel guilty at the same time, since I know she’s SO excited about he day, and SO eager/happy to share it with me. But #$#$ that kid never stops talking!
Eddie, I listened and I have a hug for you! (And I have a tenant who never stops talking and grousing about his job and how he is talking to other places, etc etc, and it does get so old. Eddie is just so enthusiastic and sweet!)
There’s a photo of me and my twin cousin sitting on the back of the couch, with Grandpa in between us. Not sure what we were doing to his head, but we were giggling our heads off! I said something like I didn’t know how he put up with us to an older cousin:
“You don’t think he had his hearing aids on, do you?”
ROFL! Never occurred to me that’s how he put up with hordes of grandkids!

She’ll listen later, Eddie. (Mom, don’t fall off that arm-prop.)

Tell Eddie to start writing, at the end of every day, an account of that day. So he can write his autobiography.

And then, one day: “I don’t understand why my children don’t talk to me anymore” – well, I can.
