Reading the encyclopaedia was one of my favourite activities when I was a kid. I would open one of the books at a random page and discover something. Somehow the internet isn’t the same.
On the one hand, I’d like to have an old-fashioned set of encyclopedias. There’s a certain joy you get from browsing through one that you don’t get from looking things up online.
On the other hand, furniture made of encyclopedias sounds really cool (to a nerd like me)!
Try selling encyclopedias door to door. I did the Collier’s thing Summer 1963. It was a con job—for us, upon hiring we could choose salary or commission, then we learned there was no salary. Just commission. They got sued. Don’t know the outcome.
I still have my set of 1972 World Book encyclopedias. They’re bulky and heavy, and because it’s one of a few things I still have from my parents I can’t bring myself to throw them away. I still look things up every now and then. They may not be up to date, but it’s easier to find some things in them then on an internet search engine.

Books can be repurposed for many things, reading is only one of them.
