I doubt they have enough money for any of that, even the hot dog steamer. If they did have all that money, they wouldnāt need to go through all the toil and labor required to run the farm.
āThe name āpole barnā stems from the 1930s. Due to a disrupted economy from the Great Depression and Dust Bowl, farmers turned to the most cost-efficient materials they could to construct new buildings: recycled telephone poles.ā
I had no idea what a pole barn is! Thanks, Tony :)
A lot of my ancestors were farmers too. Shame on me :) I remember riding on my Great-Uncle Lelandās tractor with him, that was so fun! And we have an old movie of him and Granny making sausage, with the Mortonās salt container very visible. Used to say we should send that to them and see if they wanted to use it in a commercialā¦ paying us for it, of course :)
Maybe Troutās mom has taken her to a pick-your-own farm. Iāve been to several, and they typically have anything from a small snack counter to a substantial general store that sells all kinds of produce and farm-related goods. Could be thatās where she got the idea that a hot dog steamer is a standard part of farm life.

We needed a guy to bale our two acres of pasture every year. Had to pay him and give him the hay both.
