…and Doonesbury the elder is featured in one more sweet moment to close the week tomorrow (sans newlyweds)! The wedding played out again as nicely and humorously as I remember it.

Was Vietnam still war-torn when this strip was drawn?

Or had it recovered physically and economically?

I wonder if Vietnam is okay for veterans vacatiions. I mean, you know, they won and everything. Any hard feelings?

With all due respect, there are a few very common surnames in Viet Nam and those graves may be hard to identify.

It is now 2022, not sure when this strip was written but Hue was torn apart by the commies in the Tet offensive in 68! If her relative were in the military, help the government, were educated or professionals or professors they were rounded up, killed and put in mass graves. No not a great honey moon destination .

They have also made one of the largest Viet Kong tunnel complexes into a Tourist attraction.

For a fee, you get to crawl through the tunnels.

They also have shooting ranges where you can try out all sorts of left over Weapons. At around a Dollar a bullet, if can get kinda expensive if you get trigger happy.
