I think maybe someone close to the artist has just had a very successful operation, and this cartoon is a valentine to that someone. Congratulations all around—to the donor, the recipient, and the artist, for a very classy “tip o’ the Hatlo Hat”!

Maybe I am being overly critical about semantics, but wouldn’t the transplant be SUCCESSFUL and the kidney be accepted?
It was thanks to all those anti-rejection drugs the transplant brought with it. It got all the other organs kidney-stoned.
