Today is Saint George’s Day. Saint George is famous for reputedly killing a dragon who was very different from the friendly dragons in this strip.
Saint George was a soldier of the Roman Empire. He was probably born in the country which is now Turkey although he may have been born in Libya. He is said to have endured a long period of imprisonment and torture to try to make him renounce his Christian faith before he was executed for refusing to renounce it. The fact that he was a heroic warrior of the Roman Empire made his conversion to Christianity very threatening to the Roman leaders and a large boost for Christianity within the Empire.
Today’s strip reminds me of the books about Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, by Laurel K. Hamilton. Anita prefers the term “vampire executioner” to “vampire hunter”. She is engaged to a vampire called Jean Claude and to two bisexual wereleopards. They are planning to marry in a joint ceremony. The wedding is to be a heterosexual marriage between a human and a vampire and a homosexual marriage between two wereleopards but the four individuals see it as a marriage between the four of them.
I obviously enjoy reading these books. I also enjoy the Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris which inspired the TV show True Blood.
Meanwhile, Stevie, Ferny and Max are introducing themselves to each other and the topic briefly moves to “Shall we pretend that we are gossiping about Phoebe to make her insecure?”
So as mentioned, I had a birthday last Friday. And some Phoebe/Max shipping fuel which makes it official she crushes on him and validation as a result? A good present indeed.
I got for the reference:- Detective Pikachu and StH on DVD, plus both 90s Addams Family movies.
- A comic trilogy with the titles Awkward, Brave and Crush.
- Time & Vine, plus Cupid’s Arrows from comic writer Thom Zahler.

I didn’t think Phoebe really had a crush on Max at one point, but I’ll accept it… for the tea.

It’s like Henry Kissinger said about “Doonesbury”: “The only thing worse than being in it is not to be in it.”
