For more on why yelling âWe are here! We are here! We are here!â is a bad idea unless someone is about to boil our personal dust speck in oil, thereâs this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAUJYP8tnRE
Aliens would have to be within 48 Light-years of Earth to have received this 1974 first message (There are about 130 stars that are that close). They would have to be within about 24 Light-years to have received and returned a message to Earth.
What maroons thought it a good idea to attract attention of powerful dangerous aliens? Obviously any aliens who be capable enough to intercept and decipher the message would be powerful enough to invades and destroys us easily, unless they decided to do worse things to us in their labs. To âencourage peaceful encountersâ? Oh please! What creature on this planet is peaceful and you expect creatures from another planet to be any better? Me want to know who be these delusional wiseguys who want to send more detailed information into space.
If the aliens try to contact Aracebo they are going are going to be out of luck because Aracebo went off line on 12/1/20 when the radio telescope collapsed.
Major coincidence: I am reading my Sunday comics late today, and there is an episode of âBobâs Burgersâ on while I do so: the episode is about how one of the characters had a school science experiment to contact the aliens⊠and that another wanted to prevent it for just this situation in âBrewster Rockitâ⊠;-)
