My dad would come to see me play right field in our little league games. I donât think he had much reason to be proud of the way I played, but he didnât care. Heâs been gone for twenty years this May. Still miss you, Dad.
I still have what I think is the greatest Fatherâs Day card ever in the Peanuts genre. The front of the card is entitled: âA Fatherâs Day Riddle For You Dadâ with Snoopy in a golf cap saying âWhat goes - Putt Putt â Putt â Putt -Putt?â And on the inside is Snoopy driving a golf cart past a green with Woodstock perched on a golf club while Snoop is saying âA golfing dad whoâs way above par!â Fathers are so important, a great day to all of them.
Itâs a running theme that Charles Schultz emphasizes â There will be disappointments and perils, but learn to cope with them and persevere. Charlie Brown doesnât need to give his dad any physical object like a necktie to show his love and respect. As someone who lost his dad at age 7, I can definitely state that loss still haunts me nearly sixty years later.

Well Charlie, your pitching didnât knock his socks off, but it knocked off yours, along with your uniform, glove and hat, so there is thatâŠ

After your next pitch, you may be wishing you wore a necktie.

Thankfully my brother liked sports, took the pressure off me who could care less.

Maybe if the dad would help him practice some. I have never seen his parents being parents in any way.

Itâs OK. Maybe his dad is a Cubs fan. After all, CB is lovable, and Iâm sure his dad loves him.

Charlie Brownâs dad must be laughing at how one fly ball can take off Charlie Brownâs clothes. (I also think thatâs funny.)
