Sounds like the “animated” cartoons of the late Gene Deitch.

Unwatchable, even by kids!!

agnes can take heart from xkcd. of course, to have an equivalent strip she needs to learn a lot about math and science and maps and and and, but she’s still young yet…

Agnes is the strip closest to my heart. She is poor and makes no excuses for it. She has an amazing imagination. She is a true friend to Trout, who is also her true friend, and they accept each other for what they are, recognizing each other’s shortcomings but never with a hint of cruelty. I don’t know if Agnes is bullied (because she is “too far above” them all to let it bother her, if it has happened) but she makes no apologies for her poverty, her grandmother, her home, and her friend. One of the most touching story lines was when Agnes and her grandmother had to rescue a woman from the trailer park, and then place the woman in a nursing home. That hit home, but it was done so deftly, and with such love, and I saved the whole story line of cartoons to my desktop, and I pull the cartoons up often, just to remind myself how vulnerable we all are, and how much we need each other.

There are hundreds of comic strips on gocomics and I follow only 50 on a daily basis. The others I find boring or marginally appealing but that’s the way it is…to each his/her own

Sounds like a perfect match for the “7th Chix” in the Six Chix’s comic.

I now believe this strip is not based on personal experience because the lettering on this strip is BRILLIANT.

Great characters well drawn from the literary standpoint. Realistic.
