This reminded me of a beautifully done SF movie, The Vast of Night (there’s a comment that the alien spaceship only comes to rural areas when people are preoccupied with something like a local basketball game). It was one of those movies I keep returning to in my thoughts.

I am, in reality, Zarfleb from the planet Krebulon 9… this cartoon is offensive to me. Please direct me to your Planetary Censorship Board so that I may protest it.

“Teasers are usually rich kids with nothing to do. They cruise around looking for planets that haven’t made interstellar contact yet and buzz them…They find some isolated spot with very few people around, then land right by some poor unsuspecting soul whom no one’s ever going to believe and then strut up and down in front of him wearing silly antennas on their head and making beep beep noises.”

    - Douglas Adams, the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Universe.

I’ve always wondered why an extremely advanced alien civilization, capable of trans-lightspeed travel, would expend resources to deploy their advanced technology just to visit a little backwater planet and stick a probe up Bubba’s backside.

You’d think that from an ET perspective, “the Southwest” would be in the Southern and Western Hemispheres.
