It’s always the thought that counts and not the price of the thought. However, there should be a more tangible gift for the wife if he knows what is good for him. It’s also convenient that his anniversary coincides with Brutus’s birthday so he has no excuse in not remembering it.HAPPY BIRTHDAY and Anniversary my friend and I hope you have so many more…..
Reminds me of a man I knew who was a rich tightwad. Over 50 years ago he broke a special dish while his wife was visiting her sister out of state. He went to the 2nd hand store and actually found a replacement. When they told him it was $12, he said “I don’t think that much of Eula.” and walked out. ;)
Brutus, Stop by cemetery on way home. Lovely arrangements there. And take a bouquet of flowers to Mother Gargle also. Free. 2 birds – one shot. Bwahaha
My mother used to look at the price on the back of every card she ever got. Finally I started blacking out the price with a Sharpie and writing “it’s the thought that counts!”
I was given a large bag of cards left behind by a friend who no longer needed them. I shared most of them with my child so she could find some thank you cards. Now we have a new family tradition – we “repurpose” cards. For Mother’s Day, I got a re-written Sympathy card. I am shocked if I actually get a card for the right evet/holiday. We have great fun with it, and I confess I started it by using a card for a 2-year-old boy’s birthday for my adult daughter. It’s so much more fun this way, and we have more money left over for gifts!

If you want something cheaper there is the option for “Half the gold in Fort Knox”

I got my Mother’s Day card at the Dollar Store.

“All the gold” may not be what it seems, since they do not allow any meaningful audit after 1974. Unless a “peek” qualifies as an audit.

No wonder mother Gargoyle thinks so lowly of him.

Sometimes finding an alternative route doesn’t always work out the way you had planned, Brutus.

Cheaper than you? Apparently not.

he’d probably give gladys a big bouquet if he could find a yard on the way home where he could steal the flowers…

My husband and I solved the card thing a long time ago. We just don’t exchange them, and both of us are fine with that.

I thought I show you how much you mean to me, instead I bought this cheap card.

Can she tell you the amount of gold currently in Fort Knox, Kentucky? Merely curious.

Brutus? Have you priced cards lately? Like everything else, inflation has raised greeting cards to a ridiculous price over the last few years!
