Pluggers also know there are more DIY projects than there are things done.

I had a DIY yesterday. Had to replace my garbage disposal myself and I’m 75.

If it’s not on the “Honey-Do” list it’s not that important and thus no time frame for completion.

DIY so it only has to be done once.

If there’s a chore needs doing, I’ll do it. No need to keep reminding me every 6 months.

I really don’t understand people who won’t do anything themselves…

I do my own computer hardware upgrades, software troubleshooting and maintenance. With my back problems, that’s about the extent of my DIY these days. :) :(

If you have no clue what you’re doing it’s usually best to leave it to someone who does and will possibly show you. “At least I tried” when you screw up is lousy reasoning. :)

I personally have mastered the art of installing new toilet seats. I’ve done so twice – once in my former apartment, which had one that actually had wood splinters present on top – and once in my new apartment, which had one so thin it could have been paper. For a klutz like me, this is quite an accomplishment. :-D

Had to fix both bathroom and the kitchen sinks (luckily not the basement one) during the pandemic among other repairs.

On the other hand – husband has allergies when outside in summer and it took both of us to mow the backyard and the small amount of grass in the front (driveway is most of the front property). In 2020 we just about never went out and did not go into the backyard until we went into the garage, which sits just back of the house on one side, to get our outside decorations – oops! We figured it would all die during the winter and we would start new in 2021. Of course we forgot again as we were still mostly staying in the house (as we still are). But this time I put a reminder in my Lotus Organizer in March which resulted in our finally remembering to get a name of a gardener from a neighbor and call him in mid May – the backyard no longer has “weed trees” and they will finish up next week by spraying to kill the invasive plants which have accumulated over the past 2 years. We will keep them on as it is just too hard for us to deal with it – I had to help him mow taking a turn. (Property is less than a quarter acre in addition to mowing almost exclusively being needed in the back yard.)
