Football always seems to ale people. They hop to the game and scream about things that they barley remember. They then ferment strong emotions about things that make them bitter. And then they go to the Pub and sing songs telling everybody what stout fellows they are.
Here in the USofA we have people that follow teams that have NEVER won a World Series or a SuperBowl or the Stanley Cup. Why do they do so? I think it’s because they think there will come a season when their team will surprise them!
I recently commented on Birmingham when it was mentioned in a strip. I mentioned that it is the UK equivalent of Venice and that there used to be a Daily Mirror comic strip called “Baz and Co” which was set there as Andy Capp is set in Hartlepool.
Someone then asked me if I visit Birmingham regularly as it is fairly close to Chester. The answer is that I do not. I have visited Liverpool several times but I have only visited Birmingham once. That was in the 1990s. Liverpool and Birmingham usually feature on maps of Britain as they are important British cities. Chester is somewhere between the two and is closer to Liverpool than to Birmingham.
The American writer Washington Irving lived in Liverpool from 1815 to 1818 and in Birmingham from 1818 to 1825. He wrote “Rip Van Winkle” and “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” while in Birmingham. He visited Chester and other parts of Cheshire several times. He visited the Headless Woman pub in Duddon which I mentioned recently and was probably aware that Cheshire has its own Headless Horseman legend similar to the one which he used in “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”.
Today was an early start for me as I had a 10am appointment. Although I got seen a few minutes before then.
Every time I have to go out early, I go to a cafe and order a “Full English Breakfast” I was hoping to try a cafe I had never been to before but apparently it’s only open Wed-Sun. So I went to one opposite the library that I had only been to once before. The Full English breakfast there was £6.10.
Tomorrow I am meeting a friend and will be getting the train to his town like I was going to last time. After that I plan to go to the supermarket where some food I really enjoy (part of my favourite nosh) has gone down in price for a whole month. So I will be buying in bulk.
Stay safe, stay well, stay cool and stay happy, pal.

Season ticket? That’s a laugh. These two sneak in. All in all though, such a wasted effort.

The same could be said about all soccer teams; but that’s just my opinion.

Let him do it Andy, that way you can circle back and snag the ticket. Then you won’t have to sneak in anymore.

My thoughts exactly! What a waste of a good nail. It’s a pity things like that can’t be reusable.
Just express your disappointment and anger all over social media, Sid. That’s what everybody else does.

I don’t suppose Hartlepool could beat Man City but well done to City, Premier League Champions.
PS strap season ticket to the wall instead of the nails!
