Just when one tries to turn a new leaf and be a better and more responsible person. Something always comes along and trips you up. And then you are back to your old ways, sigh.

HA! No way Mr Capp was going to turn down a free pint. Our Hero not only has his priorities but his high standards to uphold. Dilly! Dilly!

Let’s see … a choice between going on an interview for a job you don’t want, or going into the pub for a free pint with a pal?

Hard work vs. Free Pint? I think I know which choice will win hands down in this case!

As Time Goes By was one of those stories where people would “pop round for a quick half.” Nothing so convenient out here in the countryside. One has to lay in one’s own supplies for home consumption.

I was raised up in county side in N.C. Farming – tobacco, cotton, corn bean and such. It was dry back then. No booze of any type sold legally anywhere. Almost everyone made bock beer wheat or oat or barley and wine and lots of stump hole white liquor sold by boot leggers. They Made liquor at night in deep woods hiding from law- County would be smoky next morning. Old folks used 55 gallon drums make wine and bock beer. People say you would have to stand in a corner to keep it from knocking you backwards. Now all the store sell beer and wine and few people make home brew anymore. Old timers done died out and people want sissy stuff. I got one friend left that made stump hole liquor but he’s too old to make it any more. Nickname rabbit. Law never caught him but they knew he run it all over the County.
