Usual Spanish word for Dad is papá, which is very close to what she’s asking.

Not even Papá? If Papa (without the accent), you’d think he is one of four bishops/pontiffs of Rome named Sergius from the seventh, ninth, tenth, and eleventh centuries.

Every family is different, but I thought names like Paw-paw or Pop-pop generally mean a grandfather.

Paw-Paw is more of a Grandfather thing.

She can change it on her own. I was “Gramps” but then my Grandson started calling me “Bop” so now I’m Bop! He didn’t have to ask my permission!

My daughter still calls me Daddy. To my oldest grandson, I’m Gramps, while the younger ones call me Abuelo.
