I thought that it was that they only then realized why I was always late.

I haven’t worn a watch in 20+ years, since cell phones came out. My first phone (a classy flip phone model) was the only watch I needed.

I just retired from my job in February and I’m more active than I was when I was working! To me, it’s imperative for a retired person to stay active otherwise they veg out in front of the TV all day, then either die from boredom or wind up going back to work!

I’m the only one to still carry a pocket watch? It’s a nice one too. I think it’s an Apple 11 or 12? It does other stuff too. I mostly watch cat and dog videos on it though. One time I made a call from it. My wife was mad about some blah blah, don’t call me at work, blah blah. I’ve turned off the ringer since and I enjoy my retirement now.

Wait, people retire from companies? Wait, companies give retirement gifts still?

It’s to commemorate all those years of watching the clock.

I’ve never worn watch. Got up before day. Clock on table or radio time. Sun told me perfect time. 76 and no need of time checks.

I love the look on Brutus’ face!

I put away a very nice watch for a Fitbit. It does so much more than just self-wind, although I would like my Fitbit to self-wind. I doubt many places any more offer watches at retirement. Pensions are hard enough to come by these days. I got a coffee mug. I don’t drink coffee or tea.

Don’t worry Brutus, that won’t happen in your case, you’ll be lucky to get a pension.

I asked my retired older brother how he knew what day of the week it was and he said he knows it’s Sunday when the big newspaper shows up.

It’s always puzzled me why most old men wear watches considering the only real good thing about old age is not needing to know what time it is.

Well, a watch beats the ol’ Pyrite Handshake…..

A reminder that they no longer have to watch the clock all day?!

I thought it was a symbolic gesture as a reminder of what you’ve done in past 40 years: Clock watcher.
