If you’re lucky enough to have some milk, you can tear the bread to pieces add a little sugar and you have bread cereal. I ate a lot of that when I was a kid. (We had boxes of Gov. surplus powdered milk.) Of course it is better toasted— so since we didn’t have a toaster we learned how to skewer the bread with a fork and toast it over the gas stove.
