The gene in question is called DEC2, and it is basically involved in gene expression. The mutant form (only ever found in one family) was more effective at transitioning the body between sleep and wakefulness, saving about an hour of sleep per 24-hour cycle, but I honestly wouldn’t be too surprised if there were other effects on the body which may not be as beneficial.

    1. How did they know his name was Pelorus Jack?

    2. How can I get that mutation. I rarely get more than 6 hours of sleep a night, and it shows.

Then again part of the reason I have not been getting as much sleep lately is because I have been staying up to 1:10 so I can make posts on GoComics.

Hmmmm…. a Mutation which allows a person to get by on just 6 hours sleep a night… I wonder if I have a variant. I work from 9:30 AM until Midnight Monday to Friday driving truck. By the time I get home, clean up, have something to eat, look after my pets, relax and get to bed I get between 3 and 4 hours sleep a night before I have to get up again and do it all over again….

I think I have that genetic mutation in a kitchen cabinet. It’s called “coffee”…

I would LOVE to get as much as 6 hours of sleep a night. I have been surviving on 4 for years.

Regularly getting by on 6 hours of sleep seems pretty common, actually. I don’t think it requires a rare genetic mutation. Now, if we were being told a mutation allows the affected person to get by regularly on TWO hours of sleep, I’d be impressed.

I doubt very much if that so-called mutation is very rare.

Take care, may renowned exaggerator Mabel “Why Don’t They Have Them Under Hair Dryers On ‘The View’” Blabbernord be with you, and gesundheit.

Pretty sad how low some people will stoop to make a few bucks for selling stolen things for scrap metal: house siding, A/C coils, electrical wiring, manhole covers, etc.

A man with hearing problems crashed his car into a very expensive car parked on the street.

The owner of the car heard the crash, walks out of his house and says “give me 10.000 dollars or I’ll beat the heck out of you!!” The man replies “Woah, woah buddy. I don’t have that much, but let me call my son. He trains dolphins”.

The man calls his son and right as he was about to talk the owner of the expensive car yanks the phone out of his hand and says “So you train dolphins? Well bring me 10.000 dollars or I’ll beat your dad!”

The son answers “Okay give me 15 minutes and I’ll be there.” 15 minutes later the son pulls up in a Humvee and out come 10 men who start beating the owner of the car.

Meanwhile the son walks over to his father and says “Dad I train Seals not dolphins.”

    Until next time.

I must have that gene mutation. I have never slept more than 5-6 hours since I can remember.

So, it’s the 4th of July night and all the dead presidents are gathered around a campfire having a party. They’re drinking and eating and just generally having a grand ol’ time when President Washington puts President Lincoln on the spot.

W: "Hey, heyyyy, Lincoln, do that thing you do!

    L: “What now? What thing?”

W: “Lincoln, do the thing! The speech! You know, the thing!!!!”

L: “Ohhh, yeah, the speech. Yeah, that thing. Nah, I can’t. I can’t remember the words.”

W: “Whaddya mean you can’t remember the words??? It’s the speech; you’ve said it a million times!!! You’ve got that like burned in your brain, right?!!”

L: “Well, yeah, normally, sure, I’ve got it memorized, but that was four s’mores and seven beers ago!!!”

    CFW: Until next time.
