In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina many businesses in New Orleans had to close only to reopen later, if they could reopen. The Hustler store was one of those that closed. During that time Flynt continued to pay the employees of the closed store their full wages among other things. If you are going to allow US News & World Report you have to allow Hustler otherwise there is no freedom of speech.
Dan worked for Hustler? I wonder why he got fired . . .
The above comment was inspired by the following:
Murray: You worked for Playboy? Why’d you get fired?
Oscar: What makes you think I got fired?
Murray (suggestively): Who would quit?
From an episode of The Odd Couple, an exchange between Jack Klugman (Oscar) and Al Molinaro (Murray).
As for Dan, occasionally I have thought I recognized his cartoon style from somewhere (but I only read it for the cartoons . . . )
Actually, Flynt’s material was always a little too crude for my taste. As for his politics, I still have a more mainstream special he put out, devoted to exposing the hypocrisy of Republicans who had been caught in various sex scandals, while devoutly claiming to be the party of “family values.”
