Water cooler? Wow, when I played football in the early 70’s water wasn’t permitted by our coach, who saw thirst as a sign of weakness.
For a game played In 1958, is Gil a true genius (see the use of a forward pass on 4th and 15 to tie the game) , and an enlightened innovator in recognizing the importance of hydration many years and ahead of its acceptance by allowing water on the sideline?
P3 Fist pumps all around! To emphasize the game took place in 1958, Rubin skillfully recreates that juvenile gag of that era by adding a hand with two fingers up behind Gil’s head for those around to see it and laugh, with the chance that maybe a newspaper photographer might capture the moment since cameras weren’t so prevalent back in the day
OK, tomorrow we get the “grin and grip” shot as they hand Gil the trophy, Saturday on the patio/deck and a new adventure on Monday. Ha!, who am I kidding, they’ll drag this mess out until summer football practices.
Ah, so Tays is his last name. That was big of Gil to say, “Win or lose, I’m proud of you.” AFTER they did win. Also big of Gil is his hand. He’s got some long fingers, I bet he can palm a basketball with ease. And speaking of ease, you can read today’s Mopped Up Thorp with ease, simply by going here:

P3- GilPa has a ring on his finger so this can’t be 1958. This era is the lost tapes of Milford era, including BP. Before Pedro.

Yes, Emmett deserved this for fully integrating the football team.

I’ve always wanted to see a coach whose team is trailing 35-0 with 30 seconds left get the cooler over the head treatment.

Five minutes after winning the State Title, Corch Thorp says, “Win or Lose”? Does Gil think the postgame celebration is the halftime pep talk?

P2: The student body is apparently required to attend the Coach of the Year award ceremony. That explains why the auditorium isn’t empty yet.

The colorist switched panel position. Everyone laughs after Gil’s post game comment.
