If words can’t do harm, why can you be charged with crimes like slander, sedition, and hate speech.

WHO is gonna change the name of MonkeyPox because it is an insult to monkey’s or some darned thing I can’t understand. So does this mean the chicken lobby is gonna have chicken pox changed too. And I imagine the height challenged people will have small pox changed.

Lying in court after taking an oath not to can certainly hurt you quite a bit.

15 comments and not a single “yo’ mama” joke. I am disappointed.

So, the infamous Over The Hedge cow trebuchet can do more than launch cows!

    It can drop hints, too.

I wonder whether it can cast aspersions as well?

Sadly, words are harmful and leave psychological and emotional scars for years. Also, lies (words that do harm) have turned the world into a war zone pitting even neighbors against each other.

Seeing as Salman Rushdie was attacked and permanently maimed, not to mention extensive liver damage that could cause more harm yet, over WORDS that are decades old, yes words can be harmful. That said, the Bible does say the “offense is in the heart of the stupid one”, so being overly offended about everything is not acceptable either.

Wounds caused by sticks and stones usually heal in a few days or weeks at most. Wounds caused by words can last a lifetime.
