On the last episode of SIX FEET UNDER, when Claire dressed casually for Nate’s funeral, David said “Everyone else dressed for it!” and Claire said “Then everyone else wins.”

No your dressed like your a star in the Lords of Flatbush movie.

No! Just No!

At least he’s wearing a plain tee, he could have opted for the formal tux tee. Just say’n.

Never too old to dress properly for a wedding. He’s going to get a dressing down by the embarrassed lady.

If we were going someplace ‘fancy’(like weddings, etc.), I had to undergo ‘inspection’ which not only included my clothes but………using a credit card(e.g)and scrapping my face against the grain of my beard to see if I had shaven close enough ! ! ! !

I have been to weddings that were just a field party ! Ah for the Bad Old Days !

Last couple of weddings I attended, some people showed up looking like they were getting ready to cut their grass or something. Times have changed !

Paint and stains: daily wear. Nice logo or design: going out, meetings, family gatherings. Non-faded black: formal dinners.

I had a t-shirt made with the logo: “[My husband’s name] is old enough to dress himself” because I was tired of having relatives and friends chide me for what he is wearing. We still have a culture that holds the woman of the home responsible for everyone’s appearance, diet, behavior, etc. So when the spouse or kids show up looking like they just wandered in from dumpster-diving, it’s ‘her’ fault. My ultimate solution: I quit going to weddings, funerals, family reunions, etc. with him. Or rather, I went without him. He obviously didn’t want to go. I’m not talking heels and ties, just clean, relatively unwrinkled casual and semi-casual wear. It’s not about fashion or style, but respect. Taking just a tiny effort to show respect for the couple, the deceased, the family.

As well as being clean with no stains on it.

Went to college with a guy that always wore a tie (coordinating of course) with a t-shirt. I asked him why once and he replied, he liked to dress semi-formal. Strange but boy, could he play the piano.

Yeah, he is if he is part of the caterer’s clean up crew.

Formal in my life is no holes, no stains.

LOL… His way of saying: “I did not want to go, anyway.”

Wow! I can most definitely relate! Only in my case it’s usually funerals…..

I quit wearing clothing with writing on it… was tired of doing unrecompensed advertising for greedy businesses

That is for the button down shirt you wear over it…

A Plugger Wife receiving a wedding invitation is absolutely one of the worst fates that can befall her Plugger Husband.

That’s how I dress every day (since HS), but I wear a pocket T for my glasses. Formal means no holes.

I was very fortunate to have a hubby who dressed nicely for any occasion. I actually had to gently let him know on occasions when he was really over-dressed. He really thought that he was quite casual at such times, because he had always seen his father do things like working on the car wearing a dress shirt and tie! (I wasn’t sure I believed it when he told me that, but his mother verified it!)
