In his old age, his dying act was embedding the sword in the stone.

ā€œI probably wonā€™t finish this ā€™til the stone age!ā€ And, of course that exactly what happenedā€¦ uhā€¦ will happenā€¦ uh? whatever.

Not as good a paradox as in ā€œPredestinationā€ but still good enough.

Iā€™ve wondered how Merlin could have a conversation with anyone if he perceives time backwards.

I tend to take Boodyā€™s advice whenever I watch an impenetrable anime. Try not to think about it too much. Just enjoy.

Merlin (also known as Myrddin, Merlinus) is the great wizard of the Arthurian Legends best known from Sir Thomas Maloryā€™s Le Morte Dā€™Arthur (1469 CE). The character was created by Geoffrey of Monmouth in his History of the Kings of Britain (1136 CE) where he first appears as a wise and precocious youth with prophetic powers.

Merlinus to me as an alchemist full of esoteric knowledge. Myrddin knew what was to come and could do nothing to change that history. A fascinating character for a mythical time.

Ooookay. Sorry, but my academic background is screaming! Stonehenge was built in the Neolithic. Neolithic means ā€˜new stone ageā€™. Usually connected to the rise af agriculture, though there are some questions on that. Bottom line is that it was started and finished in the ā€˜stone ageā€™. Oh well, never mind. Iā€™ll be quiet now.

It must have been difficult for Merlinā€™s parents. He would have been full grown when they were little kids.

Itā€™s as Captain Janeway said. Donā€™t even try to rationalize temporal paradoxesā€¦.

Thatā€™s a real skill he has there, talking ā€œbackwardsā€ and anticipating questions and everything else ā€œbeforeā€ it all happens, thenā€¦

For once, Iā€™m in complete sympathy with the silly Scots kā€™nigā€™ht! (Iā€™m using the ā€œFrenchā€ pronunciation ā€” why else would I have this outrageous accent?)
