Me neither, Baldo. The only Latino bands I’ve heard of are — at the top of my head — Gipsy Kings and Santana.

There is a group called Los Panchos but they’re a trio of men who play acoustic guitars so that is certainly not one of their albums.

Surely he is referring to TRIO Los Panchos

@Храм С.О.Д. (Templo S.U.D. ucraniano)- I have three of Santana’s albums on vinyl. The first one with the lion’s head, Abraxas, and Caravanserai. And listening to them takes me back to the days where you could go to outdoor concerts and didn’t have to worry about people acting stupid!

when we lived in a tiny village tucked away in the mountains of central japan i mentioned the beatles while chatting with one of our neighbors and he said, “who?” he probably hadn’t heard of los panchos, either…

I will never forget the first time we heard Black Magic Woman. My husband and I were at a close friends home on New Years Eve – 1970 (it hadn’t hit 1971 yet). Jim turned the volume up and about 20 people came to a full halt in whatever we/they were doing. We all just stood there in complete astoundment, mouths open.

Baldo, fair’s, fair, I’ve never heard of most of the people who are popular today. The only thing I have noticed on the videos is the guys seem to spend a lot of time grabbing their crotch. If they would shower more often, that itch would go away.

Now I’ve got an ear-worm of Los del Río doing “Macarena.”

The only one I know of is “Juan Pistola and his Silver Bullets”.

The only Latin bands I knew when I was a kid were Xavier Cougat’s and Tito Puente’s.

Eydie Gorme & The Trio Los Panchos record “yes, record”, called “Amore” was my wife’s favorite album from her time attending school in Mexico City in the sixties.
