He puts the “pyg” in “Pygmalion”.

I’m not a true grammar Nazi but that period after the title is rankles me somehow. Makes me feel as if it is there for a reason, and I can’t figure out why. Other than to give me the agida.

    Pygmalion?

    Yes. Pygmalion.

Not even Venus could save this relationship after it got off to such a rocky start. And Venus is who brought Galatea to life for Pygmalion in the first place!

I never asked before: What does the art think of the artist, then I realized it’s the same as we think about “God.”

So, you are repulsed by your creator? Time to sculpt something else out of that marble slab.

Perhaps she’s disturbed to be almost naked in front of him. Perhaps the idea of her creator feeling that way about her seems incestuous.

It’s not always the creative slob who wins the fair woman. Life is not fair….

Pygmalion’s big problem is that Sculpting Marble is hard, dirty, sweaty work.

By the time he finished, he desperately needed a long, hot bath.

I wonder how often works of beauty are created by people who are not themselves beautiful.
