I had a talk last night with a 3-year-old about rainbow bridges and having lost a dog. Her dog, not mine. Her mom chose that explanation. When my child was young, I was caught unaware regarding where our dog was, so I just said she was at the vet. Three years later, we passed the vet’s office and she said that was where our dog was. The dog died when my child was TWO.

Perhaps, but ultimately it is not a decision for us to make.

From what I’ve seen, death always wins.
